TAANS 2025 – Buckle Up!
Hello TAANS Members and Friends of Traditional Archery,
The new year is here, and with it comes exciting changes for our traditional archery community. We’ve listened to your feedback and have rolled up our sleeves to make 2025 a standout year. Here’s what’s new:
We’re Independent Now!
After much thought and discussion, TAANS has taken a big step forward. We’ve secured our own insurance, making us fully independent from Archery Nova Scotia (ANS) and Archery Canada (AC). This decision wasn’t made lightly, but we realized it’s the best way to meet the unique needs of traditional and recreational archers.
Here’s what it means for you:
• TAANS membership now includes insurance coverage for all legal archery, hunting, and hiking activities across Canada. (Yes, really!)
• Waivers are mandatory for all members—safety always comes first.
You don’t need an ANS or AC membership to attend TAANS events. While we respect these organizations, we’re focused on keeping things simple and tailored to traditional archery. Of course, we’d love to have you join the TAANS family officially! 😊
To clarify, if you’d like to attend an event at an Archery Canada-affiliated club, you will still need to become a member of Archery Canada (AC) or Archery Nova Scotia (ANS).
Membership Updates
It’s been over a decade since we updated membership fees, and we’ve made some changes for 2025:
• $30 for a Single Membership
• $60 for a Family Membership (2 adults living in the same household; kids under 18 join for free)
• FREE for Student Memberships (valid student ID required)
TAANS welcomes members from all over Canada, not just Nova Scotia! Membership also helps keep all these new ideas and improvements up and running.
Your support truly makes a difference! Let’s keep this community thriving and growing together.
More Shoots, More Fun!
We’ve heard your calls for more traditional-only and 3D shoots, and we’re delivering. Here’s what we’ve got planned:
1. TAANS Legacy Shoot
◦ Our annual tradition, formerly known as the “TAANS Shoot,” remains on the second full weekend in July. All the classic elements—plaques, the overall winner, and plenty of camaraderie—are here to stay.
2. TAANS Frolics
◦ These new events are where creativity shines! Frolics can be one-day or two-day shoots, family gatherings, or other unique ideas.
We’re aiming for at least 2-3 Frolics per year, but we’ll need your participation and enthusiasm to make them a success.
