TAANS Legacy SHOOT 2026

 

Location: Behind the Dutch Brook Guest Home, 2400 Gabarus Hwy, Dutch Brook, NS B1L 1E9.
Please follow the gravel road beside the Duch Brook guest home to the TAANS shoot location.

Dates: Saturday, July 11 & Sunday, July 12

Everyone is welcome—no membership required to participate!

Join us for the TAANS Traditional Archery Shoot, promising two full days of fun, camaraderie, and archery excitement!

🕗 Schedule & Format:

⇒ Saturday Registration: 8:00 AM – 9:00 AM

⇒ Shooting Starts: 9:30 AM

Two rounds of 20 targets (two arrows per target)

Lunch break between rounds

⇒ Sunday Shooting: Begins at 9:00 AM

Two more rounds of 20 targets


Bottled water will be provided both days at no cost.
Lunch will be provided for a small fee.
Donations are welcome and appreciated.


🛻 Tent and RV camping space available on-site (free of charge). No power.

The reigning champion will return with the trophy and once again serve as judge for the Best Campfire Story of 2026.

No archery experience required—family members, friends, and spectators are all welcome to enter.

Whether your tale is hilarious, heartwarming, adventurous, or downright unbelievable, only one story will earn the trophy and campfire bragging rights for the year! 🔥🏆📖

Scoring Divisions: Adult Male, Adult Female;
Junior and Cub Male and Female combined.

  Longbow (M/F): For shooters shooting with a longbow (string doesn’t touch limb when strung), no length requirement, no arrow material requirement.

  ⇒ Recurve (M/F): For shooters shooting with a recurve (string touches limbs when strung), no arrow material requirement.

    Self-Bow/Primitive (M/F):  For shooters shooting a wood bow (no glass no carbon), no arrow material requirement.

Horsebow (M/F): Is a short, recurved traditional bow designed for mounted archery.

Barebow: A modern recurve bow. String- and facewalking, an adjustable arrow rest, and a plunger are allowed. No sights and stabilizers.

    Junior all bows (M/F combined): For shooters over 12 and under 18.

  Cub all bows (M/F combined): For shooters under 12

  ⇒ Fun Class: For shooters of any age, style. Non-competitive. No medals. Shoot from a comfortable distance.

Technical Requirements:
Equipment must be traditional. No compound or crossbows are allowed.
Any type of arrow is permitted in all classes. 
No sights, No range finders.

But it really helps us out! Not only does it give us a better idea of how much food to prepare, it also lets us get scorecards sorted ahead of time.
