TAANS letters to Archery Canada

TAANS and Archery Canada Info

Dear Traditional Archers community,

ย

We have recently contacted Archery Canada regarding two important issues: the ‘two arrow rule’ and our current insurance policy constraints.

Insurance Policy Concerns

As you know, TAANS has always strived to welcome all shooters to our annual event, regardless of their membership status. Unfortunately, our current insurance rules prevent us from continuing this inclusive practice.

Two Arrow Rule

We have also advocated for the reinstatement of the ‘two arrow rule’ for traditional shooters, which we believe is essential for our sport.

Communication with Archery Canada

To address these concerns, we have sent formal letters to Archery Canada expressing our position on both matters. We believe these changes are crucial for the growth and inclusivity of our traditional archery community.

We will keep you updated on any responses or developments from Archery Canada regarding these issues.

Your continued support and patience are greatly appreciated as we work to improve the conditions for all traditional archers.

Shaping the Future of TAANS

Your Input Needed: Shaping the Future of TAANS

Shaping the Future of TAANS

Dear TAANS Members, Former Members, and Friends of Traditional Archery,

Recently, there has been a lot of talk about the ANS/AC insurance policy. To provide better clarification on this topic, we have contacted ANS President, Matt MacDonald.

You can find the complete protocol by clicking the button ‘Download’ at the end of the post.

ย

TAANS was established to create a welcoming community for archers who share a passion for traditional archery, regardless of their location or club affiliation.

The primary objective is to have fun while shooting traditional-style bows.

The discussion now is whether this objective is still being met within the guidelines being imposed by ANS/AC.

What are the available options/ideas to ensure that this promise is fulfilled?

It is a lot to take in and to consider. At least we have some answers to a lot of questions.

One question we are hearing a lot is: Why should I become a member of TAANS?

ย

We are planning to have a member special meeting to discuss this topic.
Please feel free to send us some ideas via email to membership@taans.ca

ย

And last but not least… ๐Ÿ™‚

ย

TAANS is your organization, and its success depends on your involvement and contributions. To continue the legacy that our founders started, we need your ideas and productive conversations. Your insights will help shape the future of TAANS. If you’re passionate about traditional archery and want to see TAANS thrive, now is the time to share your thoughts and be part of the discussion.

Let’s work together to ensure the continued success of TAANS!

Cheers,

Your TAANS team

TAANS AGM

TAANS AGM 2023

ย

As you all know, last year was a bit challenging for us to get things sorted out and to become organized. However, we still have a lot to do and clarify to move forward with full power.

We had the AGM, and we appreciate everyone who was able to attend. Hereโ€™s a brief overview of what was discussed: We have a new executive team, with John Cann as president, Anthony Williams as vice president, Karen Cann as treasurer, Bridget Benz as membership secretary, webpage, social media and Marla Webber as recording secretary.

Weโ€™re excited to announce that we have the opportunity to host the TAANS Shoot at the national historic site, โ€˜The Fortress of Louisbourg.โ€™ Itโ€™s a unique opportunity, and we hope youโ€™re as thrilled as we are. More details to come.

But thatโ€™s not all!
The TAANS membership year is back to its previous schedule, from January 1st to December 31st.
For those who paid their membership fee in July 2023 for one year to July 2024, it will now be valid until December 31, 2024.

HONORARY MEMBERSHIP FORM

HONORARY MEMBERSHIP FORM

TAANS is committed to supporting traditional archery as an honourable and enjoyable sport. In an effort to further this goal one archer at a time, TAANS would like to GIFT an honorary membership for one full year, every year, to an archer, who has been put forth by their fellow archers as deserving.

TAANS REPORT FOR 2023 TO ANS

Presidentsโ€™ report:

ย

A lot of changes were made to keep TAANS functioning this year. With a surprising change in leadership we are still working out some kinks but we have an excellent group of executive and board members that will definitely make TAANS as good as it ever was, with a focus on making it function even better. This will be accomplished with sharing information with our membership and follow board members. Also, social media was updated to accommodate a more fluid way of getting membership renewed without having to contact each individual. This was one of the highlights of the changes made on the TAANS webpage.

All ideas will be reviewed in a group form and decisions that impact TAANS will be decided on based on everyoneโ€™s input and a majority decision.

Again we would like to thank Down By The Bay for hosting our annual TAANS shoot and their donation to TAANS.

We would like to thank Dorothy Best for all she accomplished during her time as president and thank Janna Bourgeois for her time as secretary.

We would like to thank all the clubs that held a traditional shoot this year and also the clubs that held a mixed shoot. We gained some recognition with our compound archer friends this year and enjoyed shooting along side of them. It is nice to be open to new things which sometimes makes us appreciate why we chose to be Traditional archers.

Our treasurersโ€™ report will show that we are in fair shape but do require some increased revenue. This can start with a push on membership and see what other events we can host in the upcoming year.

Our social media and web page are in excellent hands presently and will continue to be up to date in future. Changes in the way we do business if necessary and we have the people that can make this happen.

We had one of our board members, Ray Murdock, attend the highland games event to show our traditional way of shooting. Ray was accompanied by Wayne Lantz, Jen Proctor, Peter Christensen and Mike Halfpenny. The response to their booth was amazing. Great job by all!

We still have a representative who attends the Federation meetings, Paul Stinson. Everything remains status quo.
